The Leave a Light On was born out of a deep desire from its founders, Shayne and Chev, to create a safe space where conversations about mental health could be brought to the forefront. Both of them recognized how crucial it is for people to feel heard, understood, and supported—especially in a time when mental health struggles are so widespread but often remain in the shadows.
Shayne and Chev were both familiar with the overwhelming isolation that can come with facing mental health challenges. They knew firsthand how easy it is to feel alone in a world that often doesn't prioritize or understand mental well-being. So, they decided to take matters into their own hands and create a platform that would shine a light on these issues—hence the name Leave a Light On.
The podcast’s core mission was clear: to raise awareness, break down the stigma surrounding mental health, and remind listeners that no matter how dark it may feel, there’s always a light—someone willing to listen, support, and help. They wanted their listeners to know they weren’t alone, that it was okay to struggle, and that it’s okay to seek help.
By sharing their personal stories and inviting experts, advocates, and everyday people to talk openly about their experiences, Shayne and Chev hoped to foster a sense of community where people could connect, learn, and find comfort in the fact that talking about mental health can be a powerful step toward healing.
What started as a shared mission to make a difference grew into a podcast that resonates with so many, offering hope, understanding, and a reminder that there’s always a light waiting to guide the way.
