Melissa Histon (Season 2 Episode 9)

Got Your Back Sista was established as a registered charity in 2016, with a vision to see women and their children happy, thriving and living independently after escaping the trauma of family violence, in fact we’ve helped over 1,200 women.

Got Your Back Sista offers benevolent relief and support to women and children escaping domestic violence and are at risk of living below the poverty line.  We give them a hand up to begin again by providing furniture and household items to set up a safe home free from violence.

We also empower women to thrive by running courses and programs to rebuild their confidence, self-esteem, physical and emotional wellbeing and create pathways to study and employment.

Our services are provided within the Hunter and Taree Regions with a vision to expand to selected regional centres in NSW in the near future.

Todd Ennis (Season 2 Episode 8)

What if your darkest moments could become the foundation for helping others? Meet Todd Ennis, a man whose journey from childhood trauma to mental health champion will leave you speechless.

Todd doesn't hold back as he shares the brutal reality of surviving sexual abuse at six years old and how this early trauma shaped his path. With remarkable candour, he reveals how his life diverged from his brother's successful NRL career as he sought validation through violence, intimidation, and eventually addiction. The contrast between their choices—one embracing daily discipline while the other cut corners—offers profound insights into how similar backgrounds can lead to drastically different outcomes.

Spoke to a Bloke (Season 2 Episode 5)

Spoke to a Bloke started when our brother and mate sadly took his own life whilst going through some mental health issues. Unfortunately he felt he had no other option and much to our shock and disappointment, no one to talk to.

HOW IT STARTED

Before Nick passed he would organise an annual 25k men's mental health walk (we used the term lightly in the beginning) from The Spit Bridge in Manly, to The Watsons Bay Hotel. Originally it was just a chance for mates to get together, do some exercise but also check in with each other over a long walk followed by a few beverages. Our first walk was 4 guys in 2019, followed by 6 in 2020  and then a whopping 110 blokes from all around Australia in 2022.

On average blokes account for seven out of nine suicides every single day in Australia.

“In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity."

From the first Annual “Nick’s Walk” in 2022 we thought we could do more to support men’s mental health. Much more.

So we did.

We started Spoke to a Bloke.
